    About MeContact Me
    Introduction
I am Paul Duncan, I am a very gifted teacher and musician, I have taught for over 30 years in the Puget Sound area. I can effectively and skillfully help you to reach your goals in piano playing and singing. I have a great passion for teaching, I am a skilled communicator and have an easy-going and patient rapport with every one who studies with me. I have worked with families, older beginners, students who come from other teachers, students who are at intermediate and advanced levels, even those who have had absolutely no previous musical experience. If you like to learn, have fun, learn what it is to play, and play well--whatever that might be--you will find very few who can help you as easily and effectively.

    My Teaching Background
I have worked with hundreds of students of the course of a 30+year career in teaching. I hold a BA in vocal performance and have studied piano with some of the finest piano teachers in Western Washington. I have been a freelance performer and church pianist for as long as I have been a teacher.

    My Teaching Philosophy
The most important aspect in teaching ANYTHING is to take great care in presenting the material in very clear, concise, logical, manner. I believe that every single person who studies with me learns differently; there are also things that may be easy for one, but very difficult for someone else. It does not matter to me if there are subjects that need more time--if there is something with which a student is struggling to understand or master, I will devote as much time as necessary to help that student through each difficult learning block. I also sincerely believe that nothing succeeds like success. There is nothing more encouraging or as energizing as doing something well, and I will be your greatest fan and let you know about it. What I prize in students, above all else, is not necessarily ability, but a burning desire to work at it through consistent practicing (and practicing skills are yet another thing that I teach) because any teacher would tell you that they can never have enough students who really commit to the learning program--because good teachers know, as well as I do, that whoever dedicates themselves to the work will always reap positive results.
