Prima Music is great for finding books and sheet music at a discount, and in my experience, shipping has been free. The price is very competitive. You will want to give them at least two weeks to get your order out the door, since they often need to order things from the publishers and then will save postage by holding all items until the order is complete.

Sheet Music Plus also offers free shipping, but with a minimum $25 purchase. They have been very prompt in the past.

IMSLP/Petrucci Music Library is somewhat complex to navigate, and the readability of the scanned music varies, but there is a lot of free material here.

Listen to free live piano performances!
    Posted by Mary Whittington - September 10, 2009 - 10:56 AM

I've been thinking lately about how beneficial it is to listen to live performances while learning an instrument. We in Bloomington have such a wonderful resource for this in the Jacobs School of Music, where nearly every day there are multiple events to choose from.

I think that I'm going to start encouraging my students across to board to attend. Perhaps instead of doing written theory homework, I'll give them the option of going to a performance and filling out a question sheet to bring back with a copy of the program. The questions could have to do with music history, tonality, form... or for the younger students, drawing a picture to go along with the music!

When I have this question sheet drafted, I'll post it up here for others to use.
