    About MeContact Me
    Introduction
I am a music educator, trumpeter and arranger/composer from New York City, and I have just relocated to Seattle to work on my doctorate at the University of Washington. I have experience working as NYC Public School teacher for four years as an elementary school music director (band, chorus, and musical theatre). I have performed with as a soloist and with wind ensembles, jazz ensembles, jazz combos within NYC, and performed with the Brooklyn Wind Symphony at Carnegie Hall. I have also arranged and composed for small and large university jazz ensembles.

    My Teaching Background
-4 years as a music director in an NYC public elementary school, teaching chorus, band, solo voice, solo wind instruments, and musical theatre.
-B.S. in Music Business, Hofstra University
-M.A. in Music Education, New York University
-Ph.D. in Music Education, University of Washington (in progress)
-Taught jazz theory and jazz composition to non-majors at NYU

    My Teaching Philosophy
My approach is to create a positive learning environment for the student and teacher. I focus on the student's individual strengths and asses his or her room for growth, and then balance their growth against honing their strengths. This creates an environment in which the student walks away from each lesson feeling proud and successful, but still feels a need to continue working towards a goal. I also focus not just on the physicality of playing (breathing, posture, facility, dexterity, embouchure etc.), but also on the mental game as well (how it feels, how to mentally approach a difficult passage, etc.).

Most importantly, I provide all of my students with the tools needed to succeed in the absence of a private teacher. I teach them how to self-asses their playing, break down difficult passages, and diagnose their own weaknesses in their own playing. This allows them to continue working towards success even when they're not with their private teacher.
