    Introduction
    Hello -

I have been playing and teaching professionally for over 20 years. Currently, I am a founding member of a contemporary jazz group called CJQ (www.cjq.us); founding member of Wally & The Beaves (Oldies variety show: www.thewallys.net), musical director for Danny Vernon & The DeVille's (Elvis tribute artist: www.dannyvernon.com). I also play periodically with The Billy Shew Band (blues, classic rock), The Hitmen (Classic Rock), The Edesels (Oldies), Lenny Epps Revue (variety), South Sound Symphonic Band, and the Tacoma Concert band.

I have shared the stage with a variety of artists including The Drifters, The Coasters, Don Wilson of The Ventures, Lee Oskar (War), Ramsey Lewis, Stanley Turrentine, Keiko Matsui, Arturo Sandoval, Paquito D'Rivera, and many more.

    My Teaching Background
BA in Music and Music Business from University of Puget Sound. I am still involved with the University coming in to speak for their Music Business class every year and working with students aspiring to get into the music business field. Studied with Don Lanphear (jazz legend), Jordan Ruwe, Robert Musser, Johnny Jessen (legend), Ken Murphy, Jeff Ridley and Hal Sherman (jazz legend).

I have taught private lessons for over 20 years. My students have gone on to receive superior ratings in contests, win Outstanding soloist awards in Jazz competitions, receive scholarships to a number of schools including Berklee College of Music in Boston. Some have gone on to play professionally as well.

    My Teaching Philosophy
My ultimate goal is for my students to be able to have fun with music and continue playing into their adult years. With that in mind, I like my students to have a fantastic tone and be adept on their instrument to be able to play anything that they are interested in playing.

My students work on tone, technique, theory, ear-training, and improvisation.

    Rates And Availability
I teach out of my studio in Fairwood area (Southeast Renton). I usually charge $100/month for 4 - 30 minute lessons. $120/month for 4 - 45 minute lessons.
