    Introduction
As a Suzuki violin teacher, I have enjoyed sharing my passion for both music, violin, and the art of learning for fifteen years. Five years ago I began teaching my own children music. Being a Suzuki parent has given me new insight into how to best inspire and guide students and parents in their practice. My website with more information on my studio is: www.suzukiseattle.com

    My Teaching Background
After receiving my masters in music from the Yale School of Music, I completed a Suzuki pedagogy program at the Hartt School of Music. I have registered training in all ten Suzuki violin books. I returned to Seattle and studied with Ron Patterson for 2 years. I have been teaching violin for 15 years, both in my home studio program, and at Suzuki institutes and workshops around the Northwest and Alaska. I closed my home studio in 2007 in order to focus on raising my two young children. Now that they are older and well on their way to becoming fine musicians, I am opening a new studio in the Mount Baker and Beacon Hill neighborhoods of Seattle.

Besides teaching violin, I have spent years performing in professional orchestras and quartets, have coached chamber music, and currently am playing in both a gypsy and an arabic music ensemble. Music is an instant bond between two people, and I have used this connection to travel and perform worldwide, most recently traveling to Egypt to study arabic violin.

Having always been inspired by this worldwide musical connection, I am creating a partnership program, the International Arts and Music Exchange, that connects students here in Seattle with studios abroad. The students form personal friendships, and the studios collaborate in community service projects. This past year we raised over $600 in aid for the victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

    My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that all children can learn to play beautifully, given the proper environment. The study of music develops the whole child: it stimulates a creative and active mind, nurtures a positive view of self and of others, develops an appreciation of beauty and emotion, builds sensitivity, social skills, cooperative spirit, concentration, memory, analytical ability, and aims to improve the child’s interaction with family.
