Introduction I have been playing flute for about 35 years. I studied music College at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and received a minor in music. I have played with local groups such as the NH philarmonic, Nashua Symphony. Am a current member of the Nashua Flute Choir I am scheduled to perform at Carnegie Hall in June 2008 with my pianist Mark Lutton. Together with my pianist we have played at several places in the NH area. CHaD charity dinner, for some digintaries and political Soire's. I am also a Physical Therapist, and avid cyclist, and owner of two terrific horses whom I love dearly.
My Teaching Background Minor in Music from Indiana University of Pennslyvania. I have taught in the past and currently have a few students now and am looking to expand that some. I have performed around the area to good reviews. Have been told by a few proffessional musicians that I have a great sound. Patricia Harper (editor from the latest edition of the Poulenc Sonata) from Eastern Connecticut College stated that "You have the sound that all flutists aspire to have". George Lopez (proffessional pianist) said that "you have the most beautiful sound of any flutist".
My Teaching Philosophy I try to make things as fun as possible. If it isn't fun, it isn't worth doing in my opinion. You must have a love of the instrument and a love of music otherwise it isn't fun. It's important to reach for your goals in a reasonable manner. Shooting to high or to short is counterproductive. I push my students to their potential. I teach how to practice smart......it's important not to "over-practice". Many people make this mistake and they invariably practice over and over and only reinforce bad habits. As a performer who also works fulltime as a therapist I have only a small amount of practice time available to me and I have nutured the ability to utilize it to peak performance. I like to have younger students just starting out (4-6th grade) go for 1/2 hour at a time. Once a student has mastered the basics of the instrument and can read music well they can move up to 1 hour lessons. Rates And Availability I can teach in your home or mine. My fees are as follows:
$40/ hour in my home..............................$50/hour in your home $25/half hour in my home.........................$35/half hour in your home. |
