Introduction
As a mom, and teacher, I understand the different ways children and adults learn. People are different just as the books to learn from are different. I can teach ages from 4 and up. Pre-k music classes are offered each season. A level 1 and level 2. I can also do clarinet and bassoon up to medium advanced level, flute and sax up to intermediate level. At present I have over 30 students, from Federal Way, Mercer Island and Issaquah, Woodinville, Kent. Ages 6-50.
My Teaching Background
I have a degree in organ performance and music history from Univ. of WI-Stevens Point. Being a member of the Woodwind Ensemble, I played the Bassoon, Clarinet and Piano. I love to play, so any receptions or other events with live music, give me a call (classical, christian/comtemporary, standards, Christmas). I have taught all ages, presently at Cougar Mountain Academy since 2004-2007, doing music classes and piano lessons. I have been an organist at the churches we have attended. In June 2007 I started IMQ Music, full time private teaching studio. I would love to play for any home parties or receptions. I play Christian, pop and hymns, classical and standards.
My Teaching Philosophy
I want it to be enjoyable, and to teach more than to play the notes. Piano, or any instrument, is part of the performance and how you sit or put your hands on the keys or off, it all creates the mood of the piece being played. Parents need to show the students responsibility for practice, yet parents need to provide the environment to let them practice. Advancement is all based on practice, consistency and support.
Rates And Availability
Lessons will be available in Federal Way (North) or Issaquah. Prices vary depending where you live. Contact me for charges, which includes all books that I require for lessons. Discounts given for more than 1 person per family. It is always the same amount per month. Lessons may be made up for weather or early notice of cancellation, dependent on my availability. I have a studio at Kaleidoscopeschoolofmusic.com in Issaquah and at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, S. 260th St. in Des Moines. I also teach one day at Prosser Piano Academy in Tukwila.
I am starting 11 week sessions for pre-k children, ages 4-6, in Music For Little Mozarts classroom. Minimum 4 student, maximum 8, at Kaleidoscope School of Music in Issaquah. If there is an interested group of parents/children in the Federal Way area and a place, I would love to see if that is possible. (If you do not get a response from me, It is from a lapse of registration with site.) $200 level 1, level 2, both 11 weeks. Next session begins June.
