    Introduction
    I perform in the Bay Area as a jazz vocalist and my latest CD is entitled "Mercy! Ellen Robinson Live." Currently, in addition to my private students, I am the Director of the Anything Goes Chorus in San Francisco (Community Music Center) and in the East Bay which I founded in 1980, two women's performing ensembles in Oakland: Girlfriendz and Treble Makers, and a beginning women's chorus called Swingshift Singers which is open to all voice levels.

    My Teaching Background
    I have been teaching singing and directing vocal groups for over 30 years. I am a member of National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS, http://www.nats.org). I have been a Vocal Instructor for adults at U.C. Berkeley Extension, a Choral Director for teenagers in the Oakland Youth Chorus, and a Music Instructor for children at Walden Center School in Berkeley and Beacon School in Oakland. I received my Bachelor of Music from Ithaca College in New York and went on to graduate study at the following Colleges in the East Coast: Bank Street College of Education, SUNY-Stony Brook, Hofstra University, C.W. Post.

    My Teaching Philosophy
    Proper vocal technique (which includes understanding the vocal instrument, breath support and placement) can be applied to any musical style. My goal is to enable my students to develop control over how they sing, have a range of choices they can consciously choose from to deliver the style they desire, and maintain a healthy voice in all situations.

    Rates And Availability
    I teach private vocal instruction in my Oakland home studio at the rate of $75 for 60 minutes, $60 for 45 minutes, and $40 for 30 minutes. I also have two community mixed choruses for men and women called the Anything Goes Chorus in San Francisco and Oakland ($25) which require an audition, and a beginning women's chorus called Swingshift Singers ($20) which is open to all voice levels and has no audition.
