    Introduction
I am a Private Piano Teacher who has a real passion for this instrument. I am patient and creative, easy going, structured and organized. Mostly I love to have fun with music and encourage my students to have fun while learning such a fantastic instrument. I am always accepting new students!

    My Teaching Background
I have been playing the piano since I was 5 years old and have played for all kinds of productions. I have taken six years of private piano lessons, studied music education and have dedicated myself to on going practice. I have taught private piano lessons for 11 plus years. In addition to my musical background I have an early elementary teaching degree with teaching experience in special education. I was a teacher in special education for 10 years. I have also substituted in the public school system as a music teacher for the past 5 years.

    My Teaching Philosophy
In my home baced studio I use a hands on teaching method; at the piano and away from the bench. Every year I use a new practice incentive with various motivational techniques. I teach mainly from the Alfred Basic Piano series, but have used Bastien Piano Basics and Nancy and Randell Faber's Piano Adventures. I teach note-reading, sight reading, theory, technic and music history with some improvisation and composition. I use both note recognition and interval reading coupled with rhythm. I teach all ages from 5 years old and up (yes teens and adults are welcomed). Students are introduced to various types of music such as classical, pop, jazz, blues, folk, hymns and much more.

    Rates And Availability
MJ's Little Muscians is an in home piano studio. Currently I cannot offer personal travel. Students must attend the studio. Each student will receive one lesson weekly for either 30 or 45 minutes. I am pretty flexible and will do my best to find a time that works well for both of us. I do allow for one reschedule day and one make-up day a month. All students have the opportunity to participate in a monthly enrichment group lesson, two recitals held at the local retirement center and two friends and family recitals. All receive a studio t-shirt at the beginning of the year to be used for the recitals and have access to our lending library. I also provide a private student blog that you receive access to upon completing the first month of lessons.

    30 minute individual lessons = $75 a month
    45 minute individual lessons = $85 a month
    Adult 30 minute lessons = $80 a month

For multiple family members taking lessons there will be a 10% discount included in the total.

Summer Lessons = all lessons are 30 minute individual lessons once a week at $100 for a six week period, one enrichment group lesson will be included

Please, contact me via email for available days and times. I will call you to schedule an initial intake interview and meeting. I look forward to working with you.
