I am a professionally trained, experienced and very enthusiastic teacher of violin, fiddle, viola and beginning cello! I have loved teaching students of all ages for over 15 years, and have established my own teaching studio called "Miss Becky's Violin Studio". My studio helps various students pursue and reach their musical goals. I do delight in the various learning processes of each student, and I work with a wide array of students of all playing levels (beginner, intermediate and advanced) and ages. The general age range I work with is from 4 years to 94 years old. Some students play on a professional level, and want to improve special skills. I have taught students with certain disabilities. The studio size is approximately 30, but right now there is room for more!!
I offer 30, 45 or 60 minute lessons which are private, or one-on-one. If a parent is interested in enrolling a child who is from 4-7 years old or younger, they would need to participate in the private lessons with their child as a "co-learner", or "student" who is learning along with their young child. We would pursue lesson times as the Suzuki Method teaches where the teacher offers guidance and praise instead of criticism to the student and parents and all have fun in their learning speed or process.
As for group lessons, I currently have a group meeting every other Tuesday night from 7:30 - 8:45 pm. Let me know if you are interested and need more information!
Since I know the value of performance for all players I schedule one recital and three "Play Parties" for my students and their families to attend every year. I have played professionally for over 40 years as a soloist, ensemble member and orchestral member. Some professional or training orchestras I've been a member of are Redlands Symphony, Redlands Chamber Orchestra, Redlands Bowl Orchestra, Inland Empire Symphony, San Bernardino Symphony, American Youth Symphony, Yucaipa String Orcherstra. I've held such leadership positions as the Concert Mistress, soloist or Principle Chair 2nd Violinist in professional and training orchestras.
I recorded my own individual CD in August 2005 called "Rebecca Price, Just Fiddlin' Around". It represents my own developing tastes in music, including classical, folk and Irish, Scottish, Americana and Country/Bluegrass fiddle styles. I am accompanied by my professional colleagues on guitar and piano, Jon Mac Parker and Edward Yarnelle, PhD. My Teaching Background
During the 41 years I've studied I produced a variety of styles of music, especially classical, fiddle (Americana, Irish, Scottish, Bluegrass), folk, "new music", sacred and popular. My most focused training has been in my classical technique, and I've worked with many fine classical teachers such as Mehli Mehta, Claire Hodgkins and Richard Ferrin. I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Violin Performance in 1981. I have some years of experience teaching elementary-aged students in a public school, for the city I live in and in local areas. I have taught private and group lessons for all ages throughout my professional life. Currently, I offer group lessons along with private. Group work is offered to successful private students whom would benefit from the group experience.
A number of newspaper articles were written by the Yucaipa NewsMirror, and The Sun about myself and my students. I have performed all over in gigs including weddings, graduations, funerals and dedications & public events, and more. I was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Masonic Lodge of Yucaipa for my music teaching in Dunlap Elementary School in 2003.
My Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is that "Everyone Can Learn" to play the violin, fiddle, viola or cello with the proper motivation and instruction. I believe that if a student is not having any fun, that they should pick an instrument which "speaks" more to them. I believe that learning music should be fun and I keep this in mind when I teach. Any new student should commit to at least 3 months of study initially, if possible. This gives them time to see how they respond to this new "friend", and how they adapt to "practice", etc. It also gives the student and teacher time to get to know one another, and to learn how to best work with each other.
I offer our first session or "private consultation" without any charge. In our first meeting I want to discuss our backgrounds and goals. I also will outline my studio policies and the studio contract.

First lesson is free when the new student enrolls in 3 months (recommended) of lessons.
Cost of private 1/2 hour lessons is $27.00 and reflects the going rate of trained
violin teachers in this geographical area!
30-minute Private Lesson= $30.00 ($27.00 reduced price)
4 monthly 30-minute Private Lessons = $120.00 ($108.00 reduced price)
5th monthly Private Lesson = $30 or by optional scheduling
45-minute lesson = $45.00 ($40.50 reduced price)
60-minute Private Lesson/$60.00, ($54.00 reduced price)
4 monthly 60-minute Private Lessons = $240.00 ($216.00 with 10% discount)
Group Lessons available for additional $30.00 per month (ask teacher about this program)
One time Registration fee to current students = $20.00
New students are required to reserve 3 months session initially and will recieve 10% off plus 1 free lesson ($63.00 in total savings!!). After first 3 months of attendance, student makes regular monthly payments of $120.00 or optionally set up payments for locked in discounted 3 months session rate. Talk with teacher about this option.
All lessons are to be paid for at the time of reservation, typically at the free private consultation. 24-hour notice of cancellation always required. Courtesy 30-day paid notice of discontinuing students required. Further studio policies to be discussed directly with teacher.
