    About MeContact Me
About: My name's Matt, I've been playing guitar since 1986 and have been teaching guitar since 1991.

When not teaching, I'm usually found practicing or performing with my band onstage or at an open mic night somewhere. I grew up in the Pacific NW & love it here..

I've networked & jammed/played with many NW Legends including:
Roger Fisher - Heart - 2013 Rock n Roll Hall of Fame Inductee
Jeff Kathan - Paul Rogers Band, Johnny Winter,The Firm, Montrose
Lynn Sorensen - Paul Rogers, Bad Company,Free, Spike and The Impalers
Donny Evola - Former Queensryche, Geoff Tate, Foghat
Doug Mcgrew Geoff Tate, Former Queensryche
Jamie Vandal (Jamie & The Vandals),
    & Robert "Big Bobby" Hammer
Update - For The Last 6 months I've been playing with Rudy Parris from NBC TV's The Voice. Go Team Blake!

I'm both honored and humbled to have played with these legends and great guys.
I have had many guitar teachers myself including one true Famous Rock Star legend here in Pacific NW.

So you can see the music bug hit me hard. Because I really do love music.
The only thing I think that I'm better at than guitar, is teaching others to do the same..

I studied music at Washington State University formally, & then many, many years by ear on my own, along with my many teachers..

My Specialty - is teaching students the basics 1st, & then how to copy your favorite artists off the CD, almost note for note. Believe me, it can be done. You just have to know what to listen for..

Basically, my teaching method is... You got to know the rules 1st, before you can then break the rules.
This is how you develop your own unique style.
And its what separates the Pro Players from the rest of the pack.

But even if you don't want to play professionally, maybe you just want to learn a few chords, licks, songs, for yourself, or to impress friends. That's ok too!
I welcome every level and style. I always learn something from my students too.
That's what music is all about. Learning & trading tips and licks from other musicians

Bottom Line Is... I can help you learn and progress on your instrument faster...
I look forward to meeting, teaching, learning, & jamming with You.
    Sincerely, Matt
