Parents love it because it simplifies their lives! No longer do they need to pack up little Johnny's bass, pick him up from school, take him to the lesson and then finally back home. Now when he comes home, he can relax a little, get something to eat and maybe practice a little before he sits down at the family computer for his lesson.

Kids love it because it's fun and cutting edge and let's face it; where else will they feel more comfortable than home?

Working adults love Live Video Bass Lessons because it's one less place they have to drive to and it allows them to spend more time at home with their families.

If you're local to Baltimore, MD or Washington DC, I still accept students who want to come to either of my two locations. When you reply, just indicate whether you're interested in Live Online or In-Person.

LIVE ONLINE lessons work just as well on a PC or a Mac...but doing it on an iPad is just the coolest!

I'm sharing an email I got from a former student. Very touching.

    The power of ear training!

Had a really cool experience with a student today. When teaching arpeggios, I always explain that certain chords can evoke moods and often remind us of eras when those chords were prevalent. Rory and I were working on soloing ideas and we came up with a lick that implied a Major7 (add9) chord. After playing with it for a moment, Rory asked if this was a chord that was used a lot in the 70s. I told him that indeed it was. He then said it had a "Carole King" vibe to it. I agreed. He then refined it one step further and said it reminded him of her hit "It's Too Late".

So we pulled up the song, letting it play through to the chorus and there they were, bright as day - 2 bold and beautiful Maj7(add9) chords!

Rory was amazed that he was able to extract something tangible from something seemingly so intangible. He remembered back to when we first started and his ear was not nearly as developed it is now and he began wondering what kinds of things he was going to be able to hear and figure out a few years from now. I told him he had been "infected" so there would be many more of these experiences ahead.

I remember making these kinds of musical connections when I was taking lessons and feeling so empowered. It is so very cool watching my students have these same experiences. It's lessons like these which remind me how lucky I am to get to do this and have a bass in my hands all day long!
