    Introduction
I am a graduate student at Indiana University, and I support my studies by sharing my love of music! I strongly believe that music is for everyone, and I welcome students of all ages, backgrounds, and learning styles.

    My Teaching Background
I have given private piano instruction for nine years, first in Santa Barbara, California, and now here in Bloomington. My students have ranged from age three to adult.

    My Teaching Philosophy
I emphasize an approach to piano that builds different areas of musicianship: sight reading, ear training, rhythmic exercises, and theory (understanding the structure and history of classical music). Half of a typical lesson with me will be working on learning pieces, and half will be used to build those other skills: theory work, technique, ear training, etc. For younger students, this helps to keep them engaged and entertained for the duration of the lessons. Older students also find that the components of the lessons tie in and reinforce each other in their understanding of their music.

    Rates And Availability
I offer weekly lessons in my home for a monthly rate of $60. Lessons at a student's home are $75. For very young students, lesson length is 30 minutes; for all others it is 45.
