    About MeContact Me
    Introduction
I simply love music and having "musical encounters" with people of all ages. Musical training, performance and teaching have occupied a special part of my life. A native of Seattle, I studied classical piano at Cornish as a child, sang in numerous choirs, traveled, and attended school in New York city. Returning to Seattle, I attended Evergreen State College, where I focused on performance and humanities, and then completed a Master's In Teaching at Seattle University. I have Washington State Teaching Credentials with a multi-arts emphasis. My piano program is tailor made for your learning style, musical background and pace. I offer group and private lessons for ages 5 - adult. Lessons are in my studio, or I come to you, or at community centers, schools. I bring keyboards, a CD player and percussion instruments. Please refer to my web-site at: www.musicaled-ventures.com

    My Teaching Background
I have been teaching privately and in the public sector for a period of 12 years. I have had performances with my students at Benaroya Hall, the Washington Center for the Performing Arts. Bush School, the Northwest School of the Arts, and numerous other schools. Performance has been a major part of my musical training and I have had choral performances with the Bellevue and Olympia Symphony orchestras.

In my home studio I have a baby grand piano, numerous percussion instruments, a wonderful surround sound music system in which students can not only learn piano pedagogy but experience sound, melody, harmony, rhythm.

    My Teaching Philosophy
Initially, I like to get to know my student. What their musical interests are, what they hope to do with their musical training. My belief is that when a student is exposed to too much technique at first, they may become overwhelmed. As we move beyond getting acquainted with keys, notes and fingering, I further encourage musical development in numerous ways: through listening, movement, rhythm, singing, music games, and the use of percussion instruments. Every student is unique and it is my belief that learning to play the piano is enriched by using a variety of techniques!
