    Introduction
I have 30 years of playing experience, from bluegrass to folk to country to classic rock and metal. I'm comfortable teaching both flat-picking and fingerpicking. I enjoy exploring new music forms and genres. I'm a big fan of both acoustic and electric guitar styles.

Although I teach all levels, I find it very gratifying to teach new players because there is so much they can learn quickly in the beginning.

I teach ages 8 to adult in the Bryan/College Station area. I'm a member of the Texas Music Teacher's Association and the Brazos Valley Music Teacher's Association. I'm an ASCAP music producer and have an in-house recording studio.

I over 20 different instructors here at my music school, plus access to the local music teaching network, so I can locate an instructor for virtually any instrument.

    My Teaching Background
I have played and performed at various times in my life since I was 10 years old, starting as a 12-string player in a bluegrass band. We'd play rodeos and various local events. I learned music throughout primary school, playing french horn and flute. In the mid-90's I played in a successful local band "MotherLoad". We played weekly in various venues as well as wedding receptions, etc.

I have experience teaching all ages. See my company site at www.BrazosArts.com

    My Teaching Philosophy
My approach to teaching is centered around a tailored approach to each student. Some students begin learning slower than others, only to accelerate the pace once they "get it".

I think it is essential to have fun and not push too hard for progress. Slow, correct steps can sometimes be best, but if the student gets discouraged they'll end up quitting. A student who has fun practicing is much more likely to, well... practice.

I also think it's important to teach a new musician to TEACH THEMSELVES. There are many online and book resources that can nicely supplement one-on-one lessons. I like to taper off the frequency of mu lessons once the student is able to do learn a bit on their own.

    Rates And Availability
I teach at the Brazos Arts Music School in Bryan Texas. It’s a 1912 era Georgian home converted to the school, and we also have a large selection of instrument sales and rentals. I also perform many types of instrument repair.

The school is located at 708 S. Bryan Avenue, Bryan, Texas 77803. 979-703-5905.

Lessons are $20-25 per session (30 min), depending on instrument, the time of day the lesson is given and student experience level.
