    Introduction
Originally from Seattle, I have moved back after 8 of years studying violin on the east coast. I am an energetic and motivated performer and instructor. I enjoy teaching all ages, but especially enjoy working with young beginners. I have been working as a performer and teacher beginning in 2010 during my Master's degree and have been loving it ever since! I strive to be positive, creative, motivating and to create a warm learning environment for my students. I believe studying music has many benefits and support my students in every way, whether they want to learn casually for fun or are more serious and are interested in applying to music schools for college.

    My Teaching Background
I started teaching in Pittsburgh PA during my Master's degree in 2010. I have found that I especially enjoy teaching young beginners the basic technical set up of the violin. Having a solid foundation is very important to me, because after we have this, there are no limits to what we can do on the violin! It is very exciting to me to give a young musician all of the tools they need to achieve their personal goals. I try to create a positive and supportive environment, but also expect daily practice to be done with care and attention.

    My Teaching Philosophy
I like to start with the Suzuki Method, especially with young beginners. However I also like to teach music reading at the same time. I believe that students should be able to learn by listening AND reading. If the student is beginning to read words, I think they should also begin to read music. Music is another language in my opinion. In addition to the Suzuki music I also like to add other materials and often write my own exercises catered for each individual student.

I try to teach each student differently, keeping in mind his/her specific goals and needs. Everyone learns in a slightly different way, so I am not afraid to try new things if I think it will help a student. I try to think outside the box and understand that all students progress at different speeds. I am patient and understanding but also expect a certain level of practice and diligence in order to accomplish our goals together. I aim to provide a nurturing environment where the student and teacher enjoy learning together.
