    About MeContact Me
    Introduction
My name is Laura Roundy. I have been playing and performing the violin/viola and piano for over 20 years and teaching for 14years. Playing music and teaching music lessons has become the center point of my life, aside from raising my two sons. I enjoy spending time participating in Cascade Symphony Orchestra, being a wedding musician and other local gigs, taking cello lessons myself, and teaching lessons.

    My Studio
Located in downtown Arlington, lessons are offered in a beautiful private music studio. It features a waiting room, bathroom, and a 6' Fandrich and Sons grand piano for lessons.

    My Teaching Background
I have been teaching private violin, viola, fiddle, piano and cello lessons full time for fourteens years and have taught 1000+ students of all ages and backgrounds.
In 2005, I graduated with honors from Western Washington University with a Bachelors of Science in Mathematics. Although my first passion is music, ultimately I decided not to major in music in college and pursued a degree that would offer more flexibility.

    Violin, viola, and cello lessons
Since I am a classical trained violinist, I mostly teach classical violin lessons Which is referring to the method of holding and using the instrument, not necessarily the music you play. Different fiddle styles I teach are Irish, Scottish, Celtic and American fiddle: bluegrass, oldtime, and Cajon fiddling. Viola is a big passion of mine and I enjoy offering viola lessons as well.

I also feel note reading skills and music theory are very important. Therefore, my teaching style is modified Suzuki Method along with a variety of song books to improve sight reading and note reading, as well as ear training and solid technical skill.
For violin students, I teach children as young as four years old. About 1/4 of my violin students are adults who play recreationally, just for the fun of it! Music lessons make for a great recreational, therapeutic hobby.

I also offer beginning cello lessons.

    Piano lessons
For most piano students I teach from the Alfred Basic Piano Library. This method emphasizes a development of music vocabulary and note reading abilities. I am comfortable with all styles of music and enjoy accommodating a students desired approach. The piano is such a great instruments because of the great variety of music a student can learn: classical, modern, jazz, rags, blues, hymns, pop songs, country, chord approach, and more.
I accept piano students as young as three years old.
