| Currently an associate professor of English and Southern Studies at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss), I've been playing the harmonica for more than 30 years and have been teaching for more than 20. For 12 years (1986-1998) I was a member of the New York blues duo Satan and Adam; we made three albums for Rounder Records, toured internationally, and played all the major blues and folk festivals. I taught blues harmonica privately and in groups at The Guitar Study Center in NYC. For the past few years I've been coaching at Jon Gindick's legendary Blues Harmonica Jam Camps (www.gindick.com). In 2007 I began uploading free blues harmonica tutorials to YouTube on my "Dirty-South Blues Harp Channel" (www.youtube.com/kudzurunner) and created a new website, Modern Blues Harmonica (www.modernbluesharmonica.com) that many consider the most dynamic blues harp instructional website on the web. As a result of my internet endeavors, I've been invited to headline at the Mundharmonika-live Festival in Klingenthal, Germany (Sept. 2008) and will also be in residence in Northampton, UK at Blues Week (Aug. 2008). |
