    About MeContact Me
As a teacher, I am warm, accessible, and persistant - the classic neighborhood piano teacher. I teach piano for a wide range of students, with an emphasis on playing the piano with good technique and a sound music theory background. At the same time, I leave you room to explore music that you desire to play, and genres that have a particular interest to you. I know students take lessons for a wide range of reasons, and will support and nurture your ability to pursue music according to your interests.

Parent to parent, I understand that private music instruction is an opportunity for long-term one-to-one tutelage of a complex and very personal subject (music). I appreciate the great opportunity of taking this voyage with your child (or you!), while watching them develop self-discipline, goal-setting abilities, and performance skills & confidence.

    My Teaching Background

I have been teaching piano for the past 10 years, in the Seattle area.

I've been studying the piano for over thirty years. I received my B.A. and B.S. from the University of Washington.

My students have the option to participate twice-a-year in the National Music Certificate Program Exams (Royal Conservatory Program), a nationally standardized music curriculum that is acknowledged by university music programs admissions departments.

Students typically participate in an additional winter and spring recital through my studio. Awards are given each spring.

    My Teaching Philosophy
I have an excellent instructing ethic and believe that lessons/music exist for the benefit of the student. However, one of the benefits of private lessons for each student is the responsibility of setting and achieving weekly goals. I do not continue with students who consistently do not attend to their weekly practice responsibilities.

I make a strong effort as a teacher to make those weeks of solitary practice the student's public success by offering several performance and group workshop situations.
