For over 30 years, on banjo and pedal steel guitar, guitar and bass, Gordon Stone has been teaching and writing his genre-crossing music, recording 5 studio albums of his own original material. He has recorded and performed with some of the country’s most influential musicians in the bluegrass and jam world - Tony Trischka, Vassar Clemmens, Sam Bush, Peter Rowan, Phish, Mike Gordon, moe., Strangefolk, Max Creek, to name only a few!
*2005 Gordon wins Emmy for “Windy Acres” soundtrack; is named “Best Instrumentalist 2005” by Seven Days newspaper; his latest recording,“Rhymes With Orange” is named “Best Instrumental Album 2005” and “One of the Top Nine Albums of 2005” *2004 Gordon joins Sam Bush, Peter Rowan and Vassar Clemens on stage at The Gathering of the Vibes - World's True Masters of Bluegrass. 2003 Phish bassist Mike Gordon’s album “Inside In”, utilizing Stone’s pedal steel work as its primary voice, is released on Atlantic Record’s Rope a Dope label and Gordon tours nationally with Mike. 2002 GSB releases 3 Live discs with rockslide.com. Gordon joins side project “Al and the Transamericans”, who are: Al and Vinny from moe., Erik Glockler from Strangefolk. They record "Analog" in Richmond VA at David Lowry’s studio and tour 2000 -'01 GSB’s recording of “Runaway Jim” is included on the Mockingbird Foundation benefit compilation CD “Sharin’ in the Groove”, celebrating the music of Phish. Other artists on the disc include Dave Mathews, Arlo Guthrie, Jimmy Buffett, Little Feat and more. GSB releases their new CD “Red Room”. “Seven Days” said “Gordon Stone is one of the most impressive musicians to ever come out of northern Vermont”. Gordon records on The Nields “Love and China” 1999 The Gordon Stone Band records Gordon’s original film score for the movie “Mud Season”. The film is an official entry at “Slamdance” and wins best picture at both the Pasadena and Silver Strand film festivals. 1998 release of “Even with the Odds” is acclaimed by the Gannett Press as “instrumental album of the year.” Gordon Stone Band receives “Best Bluegrass Performer/Artist Award” from Good Citizen’s Vermont Music Poll. Gordon records on Strangefolk release “Weightless in Water” 1995-’97 CDs “Scratchin the Surface” and “Touch and Go” are released featuring Gordon’s compositions and many of Vermont’s finest musicians. Gordon Stone Band plays at Phish’s ,“Clifford Ball”, “Great Went” and “Lemonwheel” festivals. 1992 - ‘94 Gordon records on Phish releases,” Picture of Nectar “ and “Rift” and plays live shows with them.
