    Introduction
I tutor various types of music, specializing in trumpet and cornet. Please see my blog, www.glennstrumpetnotes.com.

    My Teaching Background
I have a B.A. degree in English Literature, with minor in music, from the University of Washington and an MBA degree from Seattle University. While an undergraduate student at U.W., I was a scholarship student in the Husky Band; marched at football games, the Tournament of Roses Parade, and the Rose Bowl game; played in pep band at basketball games; and played in a brass ensemble. Also, I played in orchestras for musicals and opera. In high school, I was a member of the Texas All-State Band. In September 2015, I began my fifth year teaching brass instruments for elementary bands at Skyview Jr. High School in Bothell. I'm a member of the U.W. Husky Alumni Band, as well as being Bugler for the VFW Post 1040 Honor Guard, playing at numerous military funerals and ceremonies. Finally, I play in a 20-piece church orchestra in Lynnwood.

    My Teaching Philosophy
My students range from a third grader to a 52-year old man. My approach is to learn the student's goals and customize the curriculum accordingly. I favor certain instruction books, depending upon the student's current level and goals and the type of music they play and enjoy. Annually in early June, I host a recital. I would love to help some students make All-State Band!

    Rates And Availability
I teach in the student's home, preferably in the Seattle/Eastside area north of I-90 to Everett. I cluster my trips to various communities to optimize my time and minimize my travel costs. When my student is a minor and/or female, an adult (or in some cases, an older brother or sister) needs to be present in the home during our lessons. My rate is $25 per half-hour. For more detail, see "Rates and Payments" on my blog, www.glennstrumpetnotes.com. If the lesson site is beyond my regular coverage area, I may charge a modest trip fee. If students prefer, you can rent a studio for a very small fee at Ted Brown Music, University District, Seattle.
