    Introduction
"Gillian creates a safe and fun environment for her students to explore the world of music.
She cares about her students and helps them to relieve the stress of the day before beginning a lesson.
Her explanations are clear and gentle.
Her concern for their well-being informs all her teaching decisions." F. Demeglio, music teacher

"As an adult beginner, I am grateful to have Gillian as my teacher.
She does not just teach 'playing the piano', but a complete appreciation and understanding of the value of music.
She is articulate, encouraging and simply fun!" S. Quiring, student

"Gillian Hu is a skilled master teacher, but is so much more!
She not only can teach the mechanics of the piano, but has a gift to impart and instill a love and a passion for music.
The student gets so much more than just a piano lesson.
It has been a joy as a parent to see our daughter experiencing a love for music and know that she will carry it with her all her life."
    L. Unger, parent.

    My Teaching Background
Born & raised in Singapore, I have a masters in piano pedagogy. I have been teaching for 15 years.

In Singapore, I sat on the S'pore Music Teachers Association board as secretary, bringing innovative ideas to music education.
Some of my students also got an opportunity to play for the then Prime Minister of S'pore.

I have been on the eastside at a private school and cut my debut album a few years ago.

    My Teaching Philosophy
Playing the piano is great fun, with some long-term benefits to anyone who picks it up!
Each student has unique strengths & preferences and I take these into consideration.
We typically explore theory, listening, singing, physical movement & music history during class time, in addition to playing.

Whether you are a new beginner or once played the piano, I would love to guide you through lessons!
