    About MeContact Me
Welcome, a little bit about me. I'm an electric and acoustic bass player, a teacher, composer, film scorer, live sound guy, music editor and a producer who makes music his full time gig. I play a lot of different styles of music and try to teach all the things I've picked up to my students. I grew up as a classical cellist, but switched to bass and got a jazz performance B.A. from the University of Washington. After college i did my stint with Salsa bands (studying under Eddie Palmieri's bass player Joe Santiago), West African musicians (Ibrahima Camara from Senegal to name one), Funk/R&B bands (The Boogilistics w/ Thaddeus Turner), Indie Pop groups (Johanna Kunin, the Golden Tree Story) and my own live Hip Hop band, Theoretics.

I have been teaching students for 5 years mainly on electric/acoustic bass but with also some students in music theory and basic guitar/piano instruction. I have been a teacher at Dusty Strings Music School for 1 year now. My approach is to focus on the music style each student is interested in, if a student likes punk, we listen and transcribe good punk players, if they like bluegrass, we do that. I focus on teaching the rhythmic, harmonic and technical approach that make the student a good player in whatever style is their preference. In an hour lesson, we will move between technical exercises, some basic, applicable music theory, playing along with recordings and jamming with the student and myself on piano or some percussion.

My going rate is $40 an hour. For beginning students, I will teach $25 for a half hour lesson.

My schedule is currently very flexible during daytimes, both week and weekends. I gig/rehearse evenings, but try to keep Mondays open for lessons.
