I am having a hard time to find a diatonic accordion teacher. I know this instrument is not that popular in NYC but there must be some French/German/Belgian/Irish/Galician expats' somewhere !

You may want to try contacting accordion companies that make diatonic accordions. here's a few on the east coast.
