    About MeContact Me

I am a first-call pianist looking to share my experience and knowledge with students who would like to learn to play and students who would like to improve their skills.

    My Teaching Background

I am currently on the faculties of North Central College in Naperville and Elmhurst College. I have 25 plus years of teaching experience having also taught at Roosevelt University and The American Conservatory. I am a 1st call musician in the Chicagoland area. I have performed with Luciano Pavarotti in concert at United Center in 1998 and other artists such as, Bernadette Peters, The Count Basie Orchestra, Maynard Ferguson, Henry Mancini with The Chicago Symphony at Ravinia. I also performed at Duke Ellington's 70th Birthday at The White House while stationed with the US Navy Band in Washington D.C.

My philosophy is that students who want to learn to play or professionals who want to unlock or refine their talents deserve guidance from working musicians who have proven themselves in the professional arena as players and educators. I fit both of those qualifications. I have coached many students who have gone on to Berklee, The New England Conservatory, North Texas State University among other local community colleges.

I am willing and able to work with students ay any level, whether it be classical, jazz, church/choral, or pop music. I specialize in concepts of improvisation for all instruments. You can visit my website at to read testimonials from students, administrators, and the many professionals with whom I've performed.

I recently completed an improvisation method book which includes all examples and exercises with complete fingering charts. If interested, go to to examine chapters and examples of topics covered in the book.

    My Teaching Philosophy

My approach is to work with the skills the students already have acquired with a view to perfecting those skills. In the case of beginners the technique would have to be developed in the first place. My philosophy is to teach all students with an emphasis on developing their creative talents as well as teaching the conventional methods of piano technique. I believe in giving students the opportunity to express themselves in the types of music they are most comfortable with while teaching them to actually play the piano correctly. My experience as a working musician is valuable in helping the students reach their goals.

    Rates And Availability

I teach in my home studio on a 6'2" grand piano. I also teach in the student's home when necessary.

My rates are $30 per 1/2 hour.
