Greetings, fellow music makers!
I'm Ariella, a singer, composer and percussionist of classical and world music (and numerous of genres in between). I am most alive when I'm singing and creating music, and I look forward to helping you discover and/or enhance your music making skills and experiences!
My Teaching Background
My bachelor's degree is in vocal performance and ethnomusicology. In my lessons, we can focus on any of the following:
-voice (breathing, tone, pitch, and more)
-sight singing
-soul singing
-music reading
-vocal improvisation
-general musicality
-world music percussion, songs, etc.
I've been coaching and teaching vocalists for 5 years. In addition, I facilitate vocal improvisation classes, world music workshops, and spiritual singing courses, "Soul Singing." I perform regularly with my world music fusion band, Yeh Dede (www.myspace.com/yehdede), am a Cantorial Soloist, and do studio session work and independent projects (www.myspace.com/ariellissima).
My Teaching Philosophy
I work with a broad spectrum of students who generally want to broaden their vocal skills, and who want to discover and/or uncover their inner voice. I believe that the voice is connected to the mind, body and spirit, and I work with you, both traditionally and holistically to bring that out. We really can tailor the lessons to your specific interests & passions. This is about your growth as a singer and we will work together to find your inner, most comfortable and powerful voice.
