    Ocala, Florida
    About MeContact Me
My name is Angie Quidley. I live in Ocala Florida and I teach private voice and piano lessons with J & A Music, which is a business I run out of my home and I call it J & A Music because my son (Jared) and myself (Angie) are the instructors, therefore the J & A Music for a studio name. We are offering an introductory new student special discount where you can sign up and pay for 2 months of lessons (8 lessons), but only pay for 6 of the lessons, getting 2 lessons free. This will run thru the January for 2015 and it possibly may be continued throughout the year for new students.

We can also do one-on-one acting lessons for coaching and prep for musical and acting auditions or song prep for state competitions.

My son Jared Quidley (adult age 28) is also teaching with J & A Music. He just recently moved back to Ocala and has his own band where he sings lead, plays guitar and keyboard, and writes all the original music for his band. He will be teaching voice, piano, guitar, and song writing.

    My Teaching Background
I have a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a Minor in Musical Theatre. I have been teaching private voice and piano lessons for over 15 years and use all styles of music (Pop, Rock, Broadway, Jazz, Classical, Christian, Choral, etc...). I have taught classroom music grades K5-12th, high school chorus, music theory, drama and private lessons. I have also run my own theatre company and directed shows such as Fiddler on the Roof, The Music Man, Bye Bye Birdie, Les Miserables School Edition, The Kind and I, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Beauty and The Beast, Grease School Version, etc. I have been hired by various venues and theatres to direct children and teens in these musicals but also enjoy teaching adults. I have also performed in the following musicals at various theatres: (Oklahoma, The Music Man, Grease, CATS, and more).

I grew up singing in Pop/Rock/Jazz Bands in high school and college while also doing musical theatre to keep my voice style well rounded.

Jared Quidley (my son who is also teaching for guitar, piano, and song writing) has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and a minor in music. He has performed with his band for 2 years, and has also performed in high school and college musicals like Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Fiddler on the Roof, The Music Man, Bye Bye Birdie, The King and I, The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Beauty and the Beast, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat, Singing in the Rain, and many more. He has experience working with students of all ages from working with youth to adults.

    My Teaching Philosophy
We like to customize the curriculum to match the learning style of each student. For piano, we use various piano books and teach ages 5 to adult beginning to intermediate levels. This includes using a music theory book. For voice, we teach ages 7 to adult beginning to advanced. In voice, we develop pitch, teach sight reading skills, singing techniques (posture, breathing, diction, placement, tone enhancement, range imrprovement, stage presence, etc.). We ask for 3 month commitment from students to see if they show development potential and commitment to practice. We do not feel that less than 3 months allows students to see any development and we do not want to waste their money or time if they show no commitment to practice or consistent attendance at lessons. Statistics show that study in music improves academics such as math and science, but we also know it improves articulation and speech, confidence, self-esteem, motivation, focus and commitment, which also helps in study habits and social interaction development.
