VOICE, PIANO, AUDITION PREP, AND ACTING
My Teaching Background
I have a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance with a Minor in Musical Theatre. For voice I use all styles of music (Pop, Rock, Broadway, Jazz, Classical, Christian, Choral, etc...). I have also taught classroom music and theory for grades K5-12th, and high school chorus/music theory/drama. I ran my own theatre company for several years and directed various production shows such as Fiddler on the Roof, The Music Man, Bye Bye Birdie, Les Miserables School Edition, The Kind and I, The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and The Beast, Grease School Version, and more.... I have been hired by various venues and theatres to direct children, teens and adults in Ocala. I just recently worked with Ocala Civic Theatre as Musical Director for "Blood Brothers" and I played GRIZABELLA in CATS at Ocala Civic Theatre when they did that production.
I have performed in the following musicals at various theatres: (Oklahoma, Chorus Line, Bye Bye Birdie, The Music Man, Grease, CATS, and more)
I grew up singing in Pop/Rock/Jazz Bands in high school and college, while also doing musical theatre and training classically to keep my voice style well rounded.
My Teaching Philosophy
I like to customize the curriculum to match the goals and learning style of each student. For piano, I use various piano books and teach ages 5 to adult beginning to intermediate levels. This includes music theory. For voice, I teach ages 7 to adult beginning to advanced. In voice, I develop pitch, teach sight reading skills, singing techniques (posture, breathing/support, diction, tone placement/projection/enhancement, range improvement, stage presence, self esteem, etc.).
