    Introduction
    I'm a classically trained soprano who has performed in many styles from early plainchant to 19th-century melodie to improvised avant-garde. I love teaching healthy technique that allows flexibility of style and expression. I also have particular interest in overcoming performance anxiety and excess tension.

    My Teaching Background
    I received my bachelors degree in vocal performance from the University of Michigan and my masters in vocal performance (specializing in early music, chamber music, and newly composed works) at Yale University. While at Yale, I was on staff as a voice teacher and had a vibrant studio of all ages and levels. I myself have sung internationally, soloing under such conductors as Sir David Willcocks, Sir Neville Marriner, Simon Carrington, Helmuth Rilling, and Jeffrey Thomas.

    My Teaching Philosophy
    I believe very strongly that all people can make music and that it is a fundamental part of being human. We all sing, hum, sway, and tap. I approach my teaching from this perspective. Singing is a natural act, and therefore, like eating, moving, sleeping, communicating, we can all learn how to sing more healthily and happily. I start slowly with basic techniques to create a strong foundation, and then work with each particular musician to strengthen weaknesses and augment natural strengths. Above all, this gained knowledge should enrich and brighten our lives and aid us in becoming more confident performers and listeners.
