    About MeContact Me
I've been playing string instruments for 47 years, playing professionally for 30, and teaching guitar, bass, percussion, and composition in both private and workshop settings for over 25 years. Besides being self taught, I also studied classical guitar and composition from 1980 to 1988 in Bloomington, IN., and am well versed in a variety of percussion instruments. Currently I play Solo, with the classical Violin/Guitar duo, Duet a la Fete, and upright jazz/fusion bass. I'm a member of the Seattle Classical Guitar Society and Seattle Composers' Alliance. I teach out of my home in North Camano Island, WA, or in your home for an extra fee.

    My Teaching Background
Besides private sessions, for the past few years I've organized short workshops of 10-18 hours over the course of a month or six weeks designed to meet the specific needs of targeted groups: Beginning to professional guitar, a variety of styles, and specific ages. Here are just a few of the endorsements from past performances:

"Entirely simpatico, talented musician...." - Martin Denton review Dec. 2003

"...thank you for providing the perfect performance... you were great... we loved the mood you set." - J. & D. Kutilek, Seattle

"...create[s] an atmosphere of beauty and enjoyment...." - James Labe, proprietor, Teahouse Kuan Yin, Seattle

"The Music during the entire event was incredible." -Lynne Thompson, Mercer Island

" were wonderful!" -Hanna Linden, Seattle

    My Teaching Philosophy
Music is fun and lessons are about playing music. Hours and years of practicing will only make you better musician. Playing music is what makes you a good or even great musician. I base all of my session on three simple ideas: 1st, how to warmup, technics your needed to be able to play the music you want to play. 2nd, how to make the 1st idea as musical as you can. And 3rd, play, play, and play. It's all about giving the students the right tools for the job.
