    About MeContact Me
I'm a formerly shy person whose love of singing led me to a career as an opera and musical theater performer and voice teacher, much to the surprise of those who "knew me when". if you long to sing (even if people tell you you're no good at it) good teaching CAN help you fulfill your dreams. In fact, more is possible than most of us dare to expect! whether or not you're a natural at singing, you can become better at it -- freeing greater resources of beauty, range, and expressivity in your voice and becoming a more expressive, comfortable and skilled performer. it is my job to give you the path and the tools to do that and to make the journey empowering. It's fun -- for both you and me!

    My Teaching Background
I've taught singing for over 30 years, since I was in grad school at UCLA (M.A., musicology) -- after earning a B.A. In Music at Stanford University and before graduate study in Opera Performance at the University of Toronto. My passion for teaching equals my passion for singing -- it's always been so. I married and lived in Colorado Springs, teaching at the branch of University of Colorado there. In Seattle I am on the faculty of Music Works Northwest (in Bellevue -- see their website for more info) and also have a home studio (in Seattle). Throughout I have maintained an active career a performer.

    My Teaching Philosophy
All my students need is a longing to sing -- that, more than obvious ability, is what matters! Vocal technique means simply using the body in such a way that singing becomes easy and natural. it is a form of "body awareness" training. totally different from trying to "produce the right sound in the right way," this actually feels good and is good for our health.

Students choose repertoire they like in whatever style they like. I have the background and the interest to coach diverse styles. Technique, being the kindest and most natural way of using our anatomy in singing, does not restrict one stylistically; it offers the greatest possibility versatility and flexibility.
