    About MeContact Me
    Introduction
I have been a professional musician for about 30 years. I graduated cum laude from Berklee in 1983. I have been teaching music for almost 20 of those years. My primary instrument is electric bass, but I also teach pedal steel guitar.

    My Teaching Background
I spent 8 years teaching bass and pedal steel at Cambridge Music in Cambridge, MA. I enjoy teaching, especially beginners. I'm patient, and really get a kick out of seeing a student achieve musical goals.

    My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that learning is achieved by building up fundamentals as a foundation. You don't need to read music to be able to play, but it does help, and is an important tool for learning and performance. I stress the importance of practicing on a daily basis, even if only for 20 minutes. It's much more effective than a 4 hour marathon on Saturday. I work with students through natural learning plateaus with encouragement and perseverence. I work best with adults who are picking up music as a personal goal, not necessarily looking for a career change. You be motivated to learn, and I'll give you the tools to play music with other musicians.

    Rates And Availability
I generally teach at my home during the week. I'm on the road most weekends, so it's difficult to schedule lessons then. I am available to teach at a student's home, but I will charge a small fee if the location is more than a half-hour's drive away. Lessons are $50 for an hour, or $30 for a half hour.
