My Teaching Background
Professional Harpist and Experienced Teacher with
25 years of experience.
Bachelor of Music degree, Manhattan School Of Music
MAT - Master of Art in Teaching, Lehman College
My Teaching Philosophy
My approach, style of teaching and teaching philosophy are influenced by world renowned harpist and harp teacher Lucile Lawrence with whom I began the study of the harp at age 8, and my father, Charles Colin, trumpet teacher, music publisher, educator. I use several Carlos Salzedo, Lucile Lawrence books including “The Harpist’s Daily Dozen”, “Conditioning Exercises”, and “The Method For The Harp” which I have found to be helpful in teaching technique and for the development of a good sound quality. I incorporate the elements of their technique combining my classical background and performance in contemporary music. My teaching has evolved through the study and performance of Jazz, Pop and Celtic music.
