Linda Greer | Offering private lessons in Salem, Oregon |
Introduction My name is Linda Greer. I am a private piano teacher and accompanist and have lived in the Salem area for over 30 years. I enjoy working with students and adults to help them discover the joy of making music together at the piano.
My Teaching Background I began playing the piano at the age of 6, and began teaching as a teenager (40 yrs. experience). I have played in church for worship services and accompanied church and school choirs and soloists for many years. I attended a private college in the Seattle area, and sang and accompanied there as well. I am a member of both the Federation of Music Clubs and the Oregon Music Teacher's Association. As a member of these groups, there are many opportunities available for my students. These include Gold Cup Festival, the OMTA Syllabus program, ensemble and theory events, competitions, and more. I teach traditional piano, including reading music, classical repertoire, theory, popular and church music. I also can work with students for improvising on chord charts, which is especially helpful for playing Contemporary church choruses, hymns, and popular music.
My Teaching Philosophy It is fun to watch students progress from whatever level they are at to improving and becoming better musicians. Learning piano should be fun, but is also requires discipline and work to achieve your goals and see progress. I want my students to enjoy learning piano, and also use their talents to become the best they can be by applying themselves.
By participating in events, such as Gold Cup Festival, students are motivated to continued to learn and achieve even greater rewards while learning new pieces. I offer recitals: one during December, with students showcasing Christmas pieces, and a spring recital . We also have occasional group lessons, where students perform, do ear training, music games, and get to know each other better.
I offer my time and expertise to try to make your experience in learning piano a valuable one, and that you can be prepared to accompany others or use your talents at school, church or just for your own enjoyment for life!
Rates And Availability I teach in my home in NE Salem, as well as in one private school. Please e-mail for rates, length of lessons and to check availability.
