    Introduction
Hi, I'm Kenneth Harper and I teach guitar at my home in Vacaville, Ca. Levels include beginner, intermediate and beyond. I am a patient, caring instructor and do all I can to simplify your learning process and make it as fruitful and fun as possible. My experience includes over 50 years playing the guitar ( 40 years of that has been playing professionally at clubs and show rooms).

    My Teaching Background
A list of my qualifications include 2 years of harmony and advanced music theory at Solano Community College with Delbert Bump and personal instruction in guitar with virtuoso "Jim Campilongo" for several years. I teach both acoustic and electric 6 string guitar. My students have ranged in age from 8 years old to the upper 60's. Since the 1980's I have taught lessons privately in my own studio as well as teaching in music stores.

    My Teaching Philosophy
The styles covered include rock & roll, rockabilly, blues, folk, some jazz standards, ragtime, western swing and traditional country& western. Basic music theory, notation, tablature as well as teaching some "hot licks" by ear are included in my lesson plan. One of my goals is to teach improvisational skills through the understanding of chord structure and scales. Styles include flat picking, hybrid picking and finger-picking. If you want to learn instrumental tunes or just want to accompany your voice with chords, I can help.

Here are a few testimonials from my students:

I decided to take guitar lessons when I retired, and had three different instructors before I met Kenneth Harper, I have been taking lessons from Ken for almost three years now and feel that he has helped me more than any of the others. Ken has the knowledge and skills to do a superb job. He not only shows/teaches you the chords but also teaches the theory you need to understand how things relate. Ken has always gone the extra mile to help me. Another benefit is that Ken is a great luthier and can help get your guitar sounding and feeling great. His prices for lessons and guitar work are very reasonable. I would recommend Kenneth to anyone wanting to learn how to play and understand guitar music. Ed S. Suisun City, Ca.

If youíre like me and tired of trying to learn from CDís and books and need to take it to the next level, have I got the guy for you. I saw Kenís ad, made the call and glad that I did. A year later Iím doing things I would have never learned on my own. Kenís passionate about the guitar and wants you to enjoy it as much as he does. And not just the playing part but also understanding the theory behind it and he does it in a very enjoyable way (not like homework). My once-a- week ď1/2 hourĒ lesson usually lasts at least an hour or more and heíd keep going if I didnít hit overload. He adjusts his lessons based on the type music you like and seems to be able to figure out the best teaching technique that works best for you. Iím convinced that if he didnít teach guitar heíd be a shrink. Heís a talented musician and teacher and if youíre serious about learning to play, youíll have fun doing it and you wonít be disappointed. Mark J. Vacaville, Ca.

Kenneth is an amazing guitarist and knowledgeable instructor. I would still be taking lessons from him, but my work life is so demanding that I just could not make his classes. I not only consider him to be a fantastic instructor, but also a great friend. He truly puts his heart into teaching each person at their own pace and abilities. Just as soon as my life settles down, I will be back with him. I loved learning from him. If you want to really learn the guitar, talk to Kenneth. You will not be sorry! Good luck, and happy playing!

Phenomenal guitar player, luthier and human being. Whether guitar repair, guitar lessons, or just conversation, any and all interactions with Kenny are definitely worth my time. He's repaired and/or upgraded a few of my guitars, which I'm VERY happy with, given me private lessons, invaluable to be sure, and has spent a lot of time collectively just hanging out after lessons when time allows. I just wish I had the time to take lessons at the moment and the money to commission a custom built guitar from him. Kenny is truey a talent in his trade and a someone worth knowing professionally and personally.

On Fridays I often think it is a damn good thing Kenneth Harper doesn't drink. If there were beer at my weekly guitar lesson I may never leave.

Having said that, if you have always wanted to learn to play, or already play and want to learn some new licks and techniques send a message to Ken or ask me and I'll get you his number.

He is a great teacher and all around good guy!
