    About MeContact Me
I am a voice teacher, voiceover artist and professional performer. I come from a long line of musicians. My grandmother was on Broadway in the 1940's and she and my mother both won the Metropolitan Opera auditions in their day and my father sang with the Robert Shaw Chorale and won a grammy for their recording. Both of my parents were voice teachers in Universities throughout my upbringing. I was raised in a classical household, but my own interests veered more toward jazz and musical theater. I studied straight theater at New York University and received my BFA in Acting there, but I also studied singing with a well-renowned voice teacher all throughout my time there and continue to work with him when back east. In Seattle, I perform with the 5th Avenue Theatre on a relatively regular basis, either in shows or as a guest artist in their educational Spotlight Night Series and at private events. My most recent performance with them was in "Oklahoma!". I am also a former soloist for Cirque du Soleil's "Mysteré".

    My Teaching Background
I have been teaching voice since 2002. I began because people sought me out, asking if I could teach them as they knew me as a performer. I taught at the Experience Music Project's Summer Program for two summers and my voice studio grew from there. I have taught after school at Kennedy High School in Burien and continue to teach some of those students privately now.

    My Teaching Philosophy
My goal as a teacher of singing is to help students find their own voices and their own authentic ways of singing. I start by teaching healthy vocal technique, which consists of various exercises to help them sing with an open, full, free, supported, and controlled tone. Ultimately, I want to help them enrich their experiences as artists and put them in the creative driver's seat. I teach all kinds of music, from musical theater, cabaret, jazz, pop, rock and folk to classical repertoire. With my background in drama, I am happy to work with students on monologues for acting auditions as well as often there is crossover when students are pursuing musical theater. I look for students who really enjoy the process of learning and extending themselves into unknown territory to grow as singers. Let's face it, we do all kinds of funny exercises to free the voice, so I tend to be playful in my teaching to encourage an environment of freedom.
