    About MeContact Me
Erin Guinup is a versatile performer and has appeared with Northwest Sinfonietta, Tacoma Opera, Northwest Repertory Singers, Ensign Symphony & Chorus, Capital Playhouse and Tacoma Concert Band with diverse repertoire including Handel's Messiah, Puccini arias and Disney princesses. Favorite roles include Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, Musetta in La Boheme, and both Mary and Mary Magdalene in productions of Savior of the World, as well as concert works such as the Mozart Requiem and Samuel Barber’s Knoxville: Summer of 1915. Ms. Guinup regularly performs a one-woman program "The Ladies of Lyric and Song: Female Composers and Lyricists of the American Musical Theatre” which she co-wrote with Patti Cohenour and which features songs that span 100 years and includes operetta, golden age, folk-rock, belt and contemporary musical theatre (theladiesoflyricandsong.com)

Erin maintains an active private voice studio and loves teaching. Her students regularly receive vocal scholarships and competition awards and have performed on Broadway and on national Broadway tours, European opera stages and television, including The Voice and American Idol. Erin earned her degree in Vocal Performance and Music Education from the University of Puget Sound and continues her education with workshops and training in special topics such as Yoga for Singers, and Resonance Voice Therapy used in recovery from vocal damage.

Erin also freelances as a music director, conductor, composer, and presenter. She has served as the President of the Tahoma Chapter of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing), was a recipient of the NATS National Young Leader Award, was selected for the prestigious NATS Intern program, has received grants from the Tacoma Arts Commission and Sigma Alpha Iota (presenting at the 2015 National Convention) and has worked with the education department of the 5th Avenue Theatre.

Erin brings a playful approach to her teaching with visual aids, toys and movement. She is supportive of students' goals and likes to challenge her students to set concrete targets and work hard to achieve those goals. Most students will participate in contests, perform on studio recitals or gigs, audition for productions or set other personal goals. Erin does require an audition for acceptance in studio. Accepted students are usually hard-working, driven and eager to take their singing to the next level. Her studio is currently full but the waiting list is relatively short. Prospective students will have an initial lesson before being added to the waiting list.

Erin teaches in a large 400 square foot studio in her home with a grand piano, mirrors, and an extensive classical and musical theatre sheet music collection. Lesson fees are $30/half hour or $60/hour.
