    Introduction
I'm a local Music Teacher, I offer personal and group classes for learning the Beginner to Intermediate Guitar, Beginner Harmonica, Piano or Saxophone, and Music Theory. I love music and love to teach people.

    My Teaching Background
I have been trained By Two Large Local Companies to create lesson plans and teach classes ranging in size from 1x1 up to 30 people. I've been flown out all accross the country training hundreds of people on everything from basic concepts to advanced techniques.
I've been playing the guitar for over 10 years and the saxophone for almost 20 years. I've taught numerous students in the Portland Metro Area and they have all have great results and improved playing ability.

I have taught children as young as 6 years old all the way to adults. Currently over 1/2 of my students are under the age of 14. Keeping children having fun on the guitar or any other instrument is just like anything else for them, Give and take. Playing songs and music that they want to play makes all of the difference. The amazing part is how much children surprise you. Many of them start off on Hannah Montana and within two months are asking me about Steve Ray Vaughn.

Adults are no different. Learning music you like, music you know, and music you love will let you learn faster than playing songs that I love. Remember that no matter who you are you always learn the same way when playing with other people, 1. Listen, 2. Copy, 3. Improvise.

    My Teaching Philosophy
As odd as this sounds I teach the student, not the instrument. Music is the same no mater what instrument you play. This means you can transfer between instruments easier if you focus on learning music. There are fundamentals that you need to learn in order to be proficient but you need to structure the lesson and course around that individual and how well they are getting the concepts. Sometimes a concept or actions needs to be explained several different ways before someone can truly understand it because we as people are all different and learn differently. I want people to come to lessons with a Passion to learn, nothing more. I'll offer them that passion right back and with the education I can give them they will be playing their instruments in no time.

I change my lesson play depending on which student I'm teaching and the goals that we set together for their playing. Some students want to really focus on singing along while playing rhythm guitar, others want to really focus on having impact while delivering quick fast past music, still others want slow and deliberate jazzy sounds that hang in the air forever. No matter what music you like, and how you want to sound we'll be able to structure a plan to get you to your own goals.
