    Welcome to Mark Bacon's Trumpet Studio! I offer lessons on cornet and trumpet for beginners through professionals as well as come-back players. For some music samples from my CD visit:

    My Teaching Background
    Mark is a graduate of Walnut Hill School, and an alumnus of The Tanglewood Institute, and Phillips Academy Andover. He holds a Bachelors of Music and Philosophy degree (magna cum laude) from The University of Massachusetts, and a Master of Music degree from Indiana University at Bloomington, Indiana.

    Mark has been the trumpet instructor at Gordon College and is trumpet instructor/artistic director of the Groton Brass Ensemble at The Groton School. He has an active roster of outstanding private students in Massachusetts and his recordings can be found on film, television, and compact disc.

    Mark Bacon joined the Cape Ann Symphony as principal trumpet in 2000. He has also performed as principal trumpeter with other orchestras in Massachusetts including the Lexington Symphony, the Massachusetts Symphony, and the Cape Symphony. He collaborates with vocal soloists, organists, pianists, and choral ensembles including: Neponset Chorale, Sacred Choral Artists and the Chatham Chorale and is a frequent soloist at weddings throughout New England.

    His chamber collaborations include Boston Brass, Bala Brass, BBQ Brass Quintet, and other ensembles. Mark has performed triumphal wedding music for brides since 1983 and honored veterans of the United States Armed Forces with "Taps" since 1980. As a soloist, Mark has appeared with the Cape Ann Symphony, at Gordon College, The University of Massachusetts Lowell, Methuen Memorial Music Hall, Saint Anthony's Shrine in Boston, and the Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul in Providence.

    My Teaching Philosophy
    Music is the univeral lifetime gift of beautiful expression through tone.
    I work with individual students to bring out the personal best of each player using positive attitudes, challenging and rewarding repertoire, practice improvement methods and performance opportunities in recitals.
